WORLD
THEATRE DAY was created in 1961 by the International
Theatre Institute (ITI).
It is celebrated
annually
on the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre
community.
Various national and international theatre events are organized to mark
this occasion.
One of the most
important
of these is the circulation of the World
Theatre Day International Message traditionally written by
a
theatre personality of world stature.
The first World
Theatre
Day International Message was written by Jean Cocteau (France) in 1962.
LA JOURNEE MONDIALE DU THEATRE , créée en 1961 par l'Institut International du Théâtre est célébrée chaque année le 27 mars par les Centres nationaux de l'IIT et la communauté théâtrale internationale. De nombreuses manifestations théâtrales sont organisées à cette occasion, l’une des plus importantes est la diffusion du Message international traditionnellement rédigé par une personnalité théâtrale de renommée mondiale à l’invitation de l’Institut International du Théâtre.
Jean Cocteau (France) a été l'auteur du premier Message International en 1962.
