The Dramatic Theatre Committee – DTC

Description
The DTC aims at promoting the scholarly and professional dimensions of dramatic theatre today. It is present in seminars, festivals and workshops, and has developed a project on «The Fool on the World‘s Stages» and concentrates as well on «The Theatre in Conflict Areas».

The DTC seeks to:

  1. Gather information on the situation, evolution, and progress of the art of theatre making throughout the world.
  2. Study the relationship between theatrical production and different sources of finance.
  3. Examine the state of theatrical life in different types of social, economic and political situations.
  4. Collaborate with other ITI committees, forums and groups that have similar areas of concern.
  5. Look at contemporary theatre making that crosses the other arts and artistic platforms.
  6. Encourage innovation in the performing arts

Future Meetings
2 or 3 in the next two years plus a Cyber meeting and a web page. Offers to host these meetings came from Cyprus (the first meeting), Mongolia, Jamaica, Taiwan and Azerbaijan. Dates are to be confirmed and will take place within the framework of Festivals, Symposia, etc.
Themes and projects to be chosen from: The paradigm shift in theatre, How to expand our vocabulary of what theatre is, The professionalization of theatre, In-career training, Theatre without borders,  Guerrilla theatre & Cross cultural activism – create a world network of guerrilla cultures, Innovation in the arts, The changing nature of theatre and performance space (site-specific, site-responsive, new theatre architecture, indoors/outdoors), Cross-media/cross art form work,  The filming and broadcasting of live theatre,  Behind the Mask – a Festival in an alternative space around ritual, dedicated to those who have been separated. In addition, the Committee is committed to continue the work on Theatre in Conflict and Post-Conflict Zones.
