The International Dance Committee – IDC

Description/projects
The IDC seeks to develop the study and practice of Dance, through activities such as the organization of Joint projects, the patronage of international festivals, the organization of workshops for young professionals and events in connection with International Dance Day. It was the International Dance Committee of ITI who initiated the International Dance Day in 1982 and in collaboration with the World Dance Alliance and the Secretariat proposes a list of selected candidates for the international message author to the Executive Council of ITI, for the final selection. IDC celebrates the International Dance Day with national events and distributes the international message to the dance community worldwide.

IDC has embraced the 5th International Dance Symposium, as an IDC long time joint project, to be implemented during the 35th ITI World Congress in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, between the 1rst to the 3rd of June 2016.

The International Dance Symposium is a thematic Symposium, organized since 2011 by the Cyprus Centre of ITI, and presents performances, lectures, workshops and a round table discussion.
The 5th Symposium’s theme “Dancing in the Body of Nature” invites the dance community to reflect on the relation of the Man to Nature and the way this relationship is expressed in the art of dance.
