1. Opening of the Session

Ramendu Majumdar welcomed the members of the Board and wished them a pleasant
stay in Dhaka. He was happy that members from far away places could come to
Dhaka to make the Board meeting successful. He regretted that inspite of their
best intention some members could not make it and he particularly remembered
Heino Byrgesen (Denmark), Secretary of ComCom, who could not join because of
sudden illness. The members present expressed their good wishes to Heino
Byrgesen for early recovery and asked Ramendu Majumdar to send a get-well
message to him.

2. Adoption of the Agenda

The proposed agenda was unanimously adopted.

3. Approval of Minutes of Uppsala meeting

Ramendu Majumdar read out the minutes of the Uppsala meeting and it was
unanimously approved.

4. Website of ComCom

Thomas Engel informed the Board in details about the preparation of
the website. He said that the website is ready and showed on his laptop the
design of the website. Agneta Hansson also took part in the presentation. The
construction and navigation design was submitted to the Board. The members
appreciated the work done by them. The website has a Mission Statement in the
beginning. It is followed by the name and address of the members of the Board
along with information about ComCom meetings, future plan etc. Then follows
the World Theatre Days Messages. For languages other than English and French
it will be scanned and help from national centres will be sought for
translation in their own language for preserving in the Artichive. It should
be furnished with scanning or PDF formats or in hard copy. For recent messages
it will be linked to ITI website. The plan is to build an archive of messages.
Bangladesh Centre will provide Bengali and English versions of previous
messages to Thomas Engel.
Next comes the WOT section. The new edition of WOT will be put on web without
the photographs because of the problem of copyright. To allow time for sale of
printed edition WOT will not be put on web before 6 to 9 months after
launching of publication. Internet file should be in PDF presented country by
country. WOT will carry a special announcement about the web of ComCom.
The publication of WOT will be announced in the web where the scanned cover
will be put. The e-mail order form will have place to provide full postal
address because incomplete address create problem in mailing.
Next in the site is World Theatre Directory (WTD). The web will have a direct
link with WTD. Jennifer Walpole informed the meeting about World Theatre
Directory. To get regular updating from the centre is a problem. It has been
decided that if any centre does not update and only provide links that will
also be acceptable to the Board. Nicole Lecreque is updating the WTD and she
should decide about delinking the centres with no infornation.
Thomas Engel informed that in the 'Project' section it will have link with
different seminars, exhibitions organised by ComCom or where ComCom has an
involvement.
The 'Link' section will have connection with other source of information as
well as with European database. Good home pages from Asia, Central, South and
North America will be recommended.
The members of the Board thanked Thomas Engel and Agneta Hannson for the great
work they have done to develop the website. It was decided to try to find a
chunk at the General Assembly of the Congress to present the website alongwith
the publication of WOT and WTD. This will be the formal launching of both the
web and publications. Ramendu Majumdar will contact Fernando to fix the
programme.

5. World of Theatre (WOT)

Ramendu Majumdar informed about the progress of work. The deadline of sending
articles is 31 January, 2004 and already 7 centres have sent their entries.
Three editors from Bangladesh have been lined up for editing. Ian Herbert
conveyed his willingness to do certain editing. Some articles will be sent to
other members of the editorial board like East European articles to Malgorazta
Semil and Heino Byrgesen for editing. It will be done because they have first
hand knowledge about theatre of that region. Jennifer Walpole will help to
contact centres that ComCom could not reach.

The problem of translating French articles into English was discussed in
detail. At present Nicole Lecreque is doing the rough translation but Jennifer
Walpole pointed out that she may not be able to do the required work as before
as her obligation for WTD will increase in the coming days. Ramendu will keep
track with Nicol who has always been very supperative to WOT.

6. Congress Event

The members discussed about the problems in organising the
exhibition of theatre programmes and magazines keeping in mind the experience
of the Athens Congress. It was decided that the person from the Mexican side
who will be in charge should be determined first. After confirmation of this
the letters will be sent to the centres inviting them to bring selected
materials from last two seasons (2002-2003 and 2003-2004). One centre should
not bring more than 5 (five) theatre journals and 5 (five) theatre programmes.

7. Any other business

Agneta Hansson raised the issue of unfinished resolution from the
Athens meeting of ComCom like the question of using a single logo of ITI,
marketing of ITI etc. The meeting decided to raise the issues at the Excom
meeting. Thomas Engel pointed out about updating and redesigning of ITI
website which has a technical as well as graphical aspect. Jennifer Walpole
informed the meeting that ITI News is now available online and it is
imperative that papers of ITI seminars should also be available on link. The
cooperation of the centres is required to ensure it. Members agreed that it is
a big project and require more manpower as well as financial support.
Everybody should try to get help for this project and it should be an agenda
of next Excom meeting.

8. Closing

The President of ComCom Ramendu Majumdar thanked the members present
and conveyed to them best wishes of theatre workers of Bangladesh and closed
the meeting. The members thanked Bangladesh ITI for their warm hospitality.
